Supporting Local Sports Teams

Here at Knights Digital, we make no secret of the fact that we are proud of our Atherton roots and of what we can do to support our local community.

Our director, Dan, traces this back to his granddad, a thoroughbred Athertonian by the name of Ernie Ackers. Market Street’s local window cleaner, Ernie was a man of his community, friendly to everyone he met, and a keen supporter of neighbourhood sports teams and local charities. He was a keen marathon runner who raised thousands of pounds for local causes in and around Atherton. That passion and community spirit were things that he passed on to his grandson, Dan.

Proud to Play Our Part

Dan, along with the rest of the Knights Digital team, shares Ernie’s love of Atherton and the local community. Following in his footsteps, we do everything we can to help local causes, charities, and people. It’s part of Dan’s nature to bring people together, and that’s become a cornerstone of the Knights Digital ethos. We only have so many years on this earth, and we’ve decided to spend that time helping our friends. When we say friends, we count our clients among that number.

Atherton Cricket Club

A few years ago, we were lucky enough to be able to help our local cricket club get their digital presence sorted. Our website developers built the club a spiffing new website with its own e-ticketing service. This meant that more money was able to stay local, rather than a cut being paid out to third-party event platforms. The club keeps more of its revenue instead of shelling out for service fees or burdening its supporters with added service charges from a commercial ticketing firm.

While that might not mean much to a powerhouse national side, it’s essential for letting community sports clubs like Atherton Cricket Club thrive. The club continues to go from strength to strength, and their grounds are a great sun trap where you can catch a quiet countryside pint on match days. The club also hosts some of the community’s favourite and most-anticipated local events, like their summer festival and an annual Halloween fireworks show.

Up the Colls

Atherton Collieries Football Club is another local sports team that is close to our hearts. Dan’s grandad Ernie used to be a legendary coach for the Colls, which was part of the inspiration for Knights Digital to support the community in his name as a way to carry on his legacy.

We’re proud to announce that we will be offering the Colls our full agency support to take the pride of Atherton to the next level online. We’ve got big plans to make it easier for people to get involved with the club. These include digital ticketing, a digital members platform, and our epic marketing assistance for both corporate packages and the club in general. Just as we did with Atherton Cricket Club, we’re going to help the Colls keep more of their money in the local community so everybody can benefit.

The Colls are smashing it at the moment, and we want to help them get as many of our local lads and lasses down to the Skuna stadium to support the team and witness their greatness for themselves. Let’s not forget that it’s not all about football; as the heart of the community, they host a range of events and take part in many local causes. We’re looking forward to the team’s next steps and can’t wait to launch next season.
